Shockingly, we just had the most terrible restaurant experience EVER at the Lovin' Oven. The hostess, an old lady who had a serious chip on her shoulder from the moment we walked in the door, exhibited the most rude behavior we have ever experienced in a restaurant setting. Her behavior and comments are inexcusable, we will never go back. For example, after the hostess made very hostile comment to my wife, I walked up to her and complained that we were insulted by it, that our food took over an hour to get to us, and her response was "this is not fast food". I said I cannot believe the restaurant employs a person who would have such an unprofessional negative attitude like hers. Her response was "you'll know the truth when you go home and look in the mirror" and the exchange got even wackier and more heated before I then walked back to escalate the issue to one of the owners. Despite being shocked and very upset at this hostess's rudeness, I explained the situation as best I could to the owner, and the only response of substance was "I was very clear we don't take reservations," which wasn't the problem at that point. We have frequented Lovin' Oven ever since they opened in Milford, regularly eating brunch and dinner since the beginning. After such rude behavior, and after escalating to an owner who clearly did not wish to resolve my problems, we will never go back again.

Hey guys,I have always adored the Lovin Oven, and since it opened it has reigned as my favorite restaurant. At the old place, the food was nothing short of life-changing - you could tell it was made with precision and, more than anything, love. Something has changed at the new place, though...I have come back several times for dinner hoping and hoping for that signature, one-of-a-kind taste to return...but I am disappointed every time. Everything I've tried except for the potato pancakes is either completely tasteless (quiche, veggie

Two things, One I vote for Karen and Warren's Coffee Scoop coffee! It would be a great, local addition to an incredible, healthful restaurant!Second, would it be possible to get the recipe for the vanilla cake with layers of apricots and coffee buttercream icing? Promise not to pass it on! :-) It was beyond amazing! Thanks!!

Hello, we attended the farm to table event last night. Overall, it was really nice. The fresh, organic foods were a treat, the personel were great and the farmers were wonderful. The music was so loud at times, I could not talk with my friends. Although the food was wholesome, it could have had a few finishing touches. The broccoli appetizer needed a few chopped tomatoes or grated cheese and the bread was soggy. The ratatouille needed some chopped parsley or grated cheese. Please take the time to tweak your program for future events. I look forward to more.Best,DF

I am really lovin the Lovin Oven's new location right there beside Two Buttons-- we are talking great food, wonderful atmosphere and fabulous karma--perfect place to recharge body, mind and soul. I'll be coming back often
Natalie and Brian - 2010-06-11
The atmosphere is wonderful here. We had breakfast here last Saturday. We did not realize that it is cash only and brought no currency. The staff put trust into us and told us to "have a casual walk along the tow path and come back." Of course, we paid within the hour. We really appreciated that aspect of customer service and will continue to enjoy the fine cuisine (and bring cash! ^_^)!

Frenchtown Cafe ROCKS!

I've eaten at least 6 times at the Lovin Oven since they moved to Frenchtown. I ate their the other day, but feel like I can only go there rarely. I had an eggwhite omlet with toast. IT WAS $10.00. I was shocked. There was some raw spinach and a little swiss chess. There was a lot of egg white. But way too mcu money for it. I fee bad, but back to Frenchtown Cafe.

Just made another (40 minute drive) visit to the new location. This place is special! There is a certain energy that is palpable when you first enter the space. There's a buzz of conversations and a mix of visual stimuli from the eclectic artwork on the interior wall to the garage door window to the way too fabulous for words, gigantic "lovin' oven" installation on the back wall. The menu is unlike any other I've ever seen in our area, and is itself a work of art! Last, but not least, the food is fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented in a natural style on simple white dishes. The host is pretty tatted up with a hairstyle that is also some sort of art presentation. 30 for food. 30 for decor. 30 for coolness.
Laura and Danny - 2010-06-02
We love this restaurant! I had the corn fritter special with eggs and spinach. Absolutely delicious. My brother loved the bacon. We will come back for lunch soon. The decor is fabulous.
caroline - 2010-05-31
Had b'fast twice at the old digs and loved it. Can't wait to check out the new venue and menu in Frenchtown. A great reason for this lazy-bones to explore restaurants other than my home town Lambertville favorites...change is good!!
Cindy Doran - 2010-05-29
I am living in Milford, but continue to make the trip to Lovin Oven because the food is mostly organic and nutritious. My only critism is that I thought they used foods that were in season.I've been there twice this week (May 28) and gotten the BakedGranola. I love it, but NO STRAWBERRIES. The second time, I berought my own.

we pulled into Frenchtown by driving passed three beaded lampshades and a sign saying Lovin Oven - pulled over to look the place up on line. Then went inside and had the tastiest lunch of all time - curry corn chowder, fritta, french toast and a lemon bar for the road - all amazing. Great service, bright, breezy environ - perfect place. good luck there.
Jenny - 2010-04-30
Another vote for bringing back the angel cakes.
Joanne - 2010-04-26
Love the new place. However, I do not enjoy sitting on the crumbs on the chairs which are wiped there by the person cleaning the tables two weeks in a row. What was with the crowd yesterday(Sunday) while all of the empty tables. Lack of servers?? Please bring back the angel/corn pancakes. Great place, hooray for Frenchtown.

Hi...random question. Is this where the benefit for Anna Taylor will be held? I'm in in Chicago, but grew up in Philly. Wanted to know how I may donate! Thanks...

I have had many of the muffins, scones, biscuits at the Oven and I am addicted to the Gingerbread Cookies. I had my first breakfast there on Saturday, and like anything else they do, it was above and beyond. The French Toast with FRESH fruit and REAL Maple syrup was so very good. All the best in your new location!

the oven still reigns supreme(awesome new chairs, tables and menu). While the new space has a more industrial vibe, the food is still exceptional. Well worth the wait and the drive.

Wow, there yesterday! I kinda miss the old house but this is also very cool! Besides, now I only have to stroll down the towpath to get there. And their hours are expanded. So come on down to the new LO.

Hello everyone!
Here is the latest lovin oven update. Things are moving ahead quickly with the Frenchtown space. We have one more inspection to pass and then we can unleash ourselves in the kitchen!
We will be open by the weekend of March 27th (probably Thursday march 25th) and can’t wait to see everyone.
We have exciting new menus with lots of yummy new options! The menus are in the process of being posted on the website, lovinovenfrenchtown.com, so keep checking in for a peek!
We’ve hooked up with lots of new farmers and are super excited about being able to serve loads of new organic and local ingredients (even cornmeal and buckwheat grown and ground in Pittstown, NJ!).
So, keep checking the website for information and we will be sending out another email blast when the dust has settled and the doors are about to open!
We hope that all of you are happy, healthy and HUNGRY!!!
See you soon (we are so excited for everyone to see the new place!)

Found their Fan Page on Facebook, which says:"Hey folks! Thanks for hanging in there! Just an update: looks like things will be pushed back a week and we will be opening on March 17th! Stay posted for more updates!"
dana - 2010-03-09
i called to see when you will be opening, but it just said early march and to look on your website. but it doesn't say on here either. has anyone heard anything about the date?
Joe - 2010-03-06
alexander. you state your own opinion, to which I disagree. Others of us are awaiting the reopening. I love the food at this place...
Bri - 2010-03-06
Hi Mike and Julie-- you might want to put a Lovin Oven greeting on your new phone number message. When are you re-opening??? You'll post here on the website?
Alexander - 2010-03-06
This place was slow, even when other diners were remote, and very unorganized. The food was average at best; but when you have sub-standard chefs acting pretentious, throwing around random ingredients that don't mix very well, I guess this is what you get. I will give the new location a try with hopes of a vast improvement.
Joe - 2010-03-06
yes, we need to know. Need a fix at lovin oven. Please advise opening....
Helena - 2010-03-06
It is Saturday morning March 6 and want to meet friends at your place, but alas, is it open?? Does anyone know? It is worth a drive by, gee what a special place Lovin Oven is!!! Can't wait!
Denise - 3/5/10 - 2010-03-05
Do you have a target date in mind for your opening? I'd like to save the date for your grand re-opening!I hope you will still be making your potato pancakes! They are just the best in the world and I always thought mine were. Now I don't have to make them again, because yours are truly the very best in the land and the world!!!
mary anne - 2010-02-27
when will you be open in your new digs?

I had my first "lovin" experience today. It arived in the form of a tasty breakfast burrito. Great flavors, friendly staff, and a low key funky atmosphere. Baked goods rock too!!!

Four of us visited your establishment during the nearby art festival and had a meal that will never be forgotten. It was absolutely wonderful. Each of us had something different, and we each tried the others dish. All were exceptinal meals. We're from Michigan and don't know when, or if, we'll get back there again, but it's on our permenant list of places to eat and things to do. Thanks for being so particular about your business. Garet
